Terms of Service
Last updated 4 September 2026
Who we are
- These terms govern your use of flow (the Platform), where students find, share and host real events. They cover the website and our mobile app alike.
- flow is operated by erudeon v.o.f., trading as flow social. Our details are below.
- Where you install the app from an app store, that store's own terms govern the download and anything you buy through it. The store is not a party to this agreement, is not responsible for the Platform, and any question about the Platform comes to us rather than to it.
- By creating an account, or by using the Platform, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Platform.
- Nothing in these terms affects the rights you have as a consumer under Dutch law.

Who can use flow
- You must be at least 16 to hold an account. That is the age from which a person may consent to the handling of their own personal data in the Netherlands.
- flow is built for students, and parts of it are limited to them. Where an event is open only to students of a particular university, we may ask you to confirm a university email address before you can reply to it.
- You may hold one account. It is personal to you and may not be transferred or shared.
- We may decline to open an account, and may withdraw one, where you have broken these terms before or where the law requires it of us.
Your account
- One account covers both of our platforms. Registering here also makes you a member of pass the year, our study platform, and constitutes acceptance of its terms in addition to these. They are in the pass the year pass the year Terms of Service.
- You must give accurate registration details and keep them current.
- You are responsible for the security of your sign-in details and for all activity carried out through your account.
- Notify us without undue delay if you believe another person has obtained access to your account.
What flow is
- flow lists events (each an Event) and lets members follow them, reply to them and talk about them.
- Some Events are organized through flow. Others are organized independently and listed so that members can find them. A listing is not evidence that we organized an Event.
- Each listing identifies who is running it. The host's avatar carries our own mark where a member of the flow team is hosting, an association's mark where the host acts for an association, and no mark where the host is an individual or a venue.
- Where our mark appears we are the organizer or a co-organizer. Where it does not, the host is responsible for the Event and we are not.
- Where we have chosen a listing rather than organized it, the listing says so. A credit for choosing an Event is not a statement that we are running it.
Replying to an Event
- Replying that you are going tells the host to expect you. It is not a ticket, it does not guarantee you entry, and it is not a contract with us.
- Where an Event allows it you may bring guests. A guest's place depends on yours: changing your answer to maybe holds their places, and declining or cancelling releases them.
- Where an Event has a capacity, places are taken in the order they are answered for.
- If you cannot come, change your answer. A host plans on the numbers they can see, and a place nobody releases is a place nobody else could take.
- Whether another member can see that you are going is your choice, in your privacy settings.
What flow costs
- flow is free for members. We do not charge you to hold an account, to browse Events, to reply to them or to host one.
- We do not sell tickets. Where an Event costs money to attend, you pay the organizer or the venue, and your contract for that is with them rather than with us.
- Where a listing sends you elsewhere to buy a ticket, that site's terms govern the purchase, and any refund is a matter between you and whoever sold it to you.
- Associations pay us for a page and the tools that come with it. That is a separate agreement and is set out in our Association Page Agreement.
Hosting an Event
- Any member may host. What you publish must be accurate: the time, the place, what it costs, what it is and who is welcome.
- You are the organizer of an Event you host. You are responsible for it, for the people who come to it, and for complying with the law and with the rules of any venue you use.
- You may not use the Platform to run an Event that is unlawful or unsafe, or that excludes people on a ground the law protects.
- Where you cancel, tell the people who replied, promptly, through the Platform.
- Guests can reach you through the Platform, including to say that they have arrived or that they need help. Where you host, you are expected to be reachable while your Event is running.
- The Platform is not an emergency service and nothing sent through it reaches one. Where somebody is at risk, call the emergency services first.
Content you post
- You keep ownership of what you post. Your photographs, comments, listings and anything else you put on the Platform are together your Content.
- You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, reproduce and adapt your Content so far as we need to in order to run the Platform and to promote flow. It lasts while your Content is on the Platform and for a reasonable period afterwards, so that backups and material already published do not put us in breach.
- You confirm that your Content is yours to post, that posting it breaches nobody else's rights, and that it meets our Community Guidelines.
- We may remove Content that breaches these terms or those guidelines, and may do so without notice where the matter is serious.
- We do not review Content before it appears. Where you see something that should not be there, report it and we will look at it.
- If you hold rights in something published here and you are not a member, you do not need an account to tell us. Write to the address above, identify the material and the page it is on, and say what right you hold. We will review it and remove what should not be there.
Photographs and other people
- Photographs taken at an Event usually show people who did not post them and did not choose to be posted.
- Do not post a photograph of somebody who has asked you not to, and take one down if they ask you afterwards.
- Where we organize an Event we may photograph it, and may use those photographs to promote flow.
- If you appear in a photograph we have published and would rather not, tell us and we will remove it. You do not have to give a reason. This applies to any photograph we publish or use to promote flow, whether we took it ourselves or a member posted it, because the person shown is the person it is about.
Events, alcohol and safety
- Attendance at an Event is at your own risk. Events happen in the physical world, and we are not present at most of them.
- Many Events are open to the public. We do not screen who attends and we do not control admission.
- erudeon v.o.f. does not sell, supply or serve alcohol at any Event, and receives no revenue from its sale. Where alcohol is served, the venue holds the license required under the Alcoholwet and is responsible for verifying age, for refusing service and for compliance with that Act. The legal age for the sale of alcohol in the Netherlands is 18.
- Follow the venue's rules and the instructions of its staff. Report anything unsafe to the venue or the host at the time, and to us afterwards, so that we can act on the listing or on the host.
- Where we organize an Event, we provide the program and its promotion. The venue is responsible for its own premises, including admission, capacity, security and anything it sells. Being named as an organizer does not make us responsible for the acts or omissions of another party.
- This clause does not reduce our liability under clause 15.
Personal data
- Our Privacy Policy states what personal data we collect, why, how long it is kept and what you may ask us to do with it. flow holds more about you than a study account does, including who you know here and where you have said you are going, so it is worth reading.
- Our Cookie Policy states what is stored on your device and the choices available to you.
- What other members can see about you is yours to set in your privacy settings.
Association pages
- An association may hold a page on flow, run by the people it appoints. What each of those people may do is set by the permissions the association gives them.
- An association is responsible for what is published on its page and for the Events it runs.
- The agreement between us and an association is our Association Page Agreement. Nothing in it changes your rights under these terms.
- Where a page should not be there, tell us. Taking a page down is a decision we make on a report, not a button somebody holds.
Acceptable use
- Our Community Guidelines sets out how to behave here, and it forms part of these terms.
- In short: do not harass, threaten or abuse anyone, do not post what is unlawful, and do not misrepresent who you are or who you act for.
- You may not collect other members' details from the Platform, whether by hand or by automated means, and you may not use the Platform to advertise to them.
- You may not use another member's account, or let anyone use yours.
Suspension and termination
- You may close your account at any time from your account settings.
- Because one account covers both of our platforms, closing it ends your access to both. Where you have paid for anything on pass the year, its pass the year Refund Policy states what happens to it.
- We may suspend or close an account where there is good reason. Those reasons are:
- breach of these terms or of the Community Guidelines;
- conduct that puts another member at risk;
- unlawful use of the Platform, or use of it to harm another person;
- misrepresenting who you are or which association you act for.
- We will state what has happened and why, and you may respond and ask us to reconsider. Where the matter is serious or continuing, we may suspend access before hearing from you.
Our liability
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for our own intent or gross negligence, or for any other liability that may not be limited by law. Your rights as a consumer under Dutch law are unaffected.
- Subject to clause 15.1, and because the Platform is provided to you free of charge, our total liability for any claim connected with it is limited to 500 euro.
- We are not liable for loss that does not follow directly from the fault, such as lost income or the cost of an opportunity, for the same reason.
- We are not responsible for what happens at an Event we did not organize, for what a host or a venue does or fails to do, or for what another member posts or does.
- We do not warrant that the Platform will be available without interruption or free of faults. We will take reasonable steps to keep it available and to correct faults within a reasonable time.
Changes to these terms
- We may change these terms where we change the Platform, where the law or a regulator requires it, where the providers we depend on change, or to correct an error or make a term clearer.
- A change takes effect when it is published on this page, and the date shown at the top is the date of the version in force. There is no other version: the page you are reading is the agreement.
- If you do not accept a change, stop using the Platform and close your account.
General
- Events outside our control. We are not in breach of this agreement where we cannot perform because of something outside our reasonable control, including a failure of a third-party service or the closure or loss of a venue.
- Third-party services. The Platform relies on services we do not run, and their own terms govern their part of it. We are not responsible for how they operate.
- Transfer. We may transfer this agreement to another company, including where a business or product is sold or reorganized, provided your rights under it are not reduced. We will tell you before it happens, and if you would rather not continue with the new company you may close your account and end this agreement. You may not transfer this agreement or your account.
- Notices. We give notice to the email address held on your account, and a notice takes effect when it reaches you. Keeping that address current is your responsibility under clause 3.2.
- No waiver. Where we do not enforce a provision of these terms, that is not a waiver of it and does not prevent us from enforcing it later.
- Severability. Where a court or competent authority finds a provision unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force, and that provision is read down to what the law permits rather than removed.
Contact, complaints and governing law
- Contact us first. Our address is in the company details above.
- Where a matter cannot be resolved between us, free advice is available from ACM ConsuWijzer, the information service of the Dutch consumer authority.
- These terms are governed by Dutch law and disputes are subject to the Dutch courts. Where you are resident elsewhere in the European Union, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings there.
